The ride involves a tandem and a bicycle as we ride from Lands End to John o'groats unsupported over 15 days.

First day 110km down 1490km to go

So set off at 8.30 and got off to a great start although both will and us nearly fell off in the drive.

After 20 km we were making great time until we were going up one of the many hills out of lands end, when charlotte and I realised we were pedalling but not moving. After pulling over we were able to see that the rear wheel chain cassette had sheared completely from the wheel and needed a replacement wheel. A wise man said that this was due to Charlotte putting to much power through the rear wheel.

To get the replacement involved leaving will and charlotte in a lay by and hitching to st ives where I met a man with seven wives... Only joking. I actually met a man who told me there were know bike shops there and that I needed to go to Hayle. I managed to haggle to get a taxi to Hayle to get a new wheel, and then the nice taxi man took me the all the way back to the tandem.
After that 2 hour faff we made good time and  eventually reached Padstow, despite the 4 signs we saw stating 5 miles to go with 1 sign having a 5 1/4 sign next to it. Crazy.

Managed to find a field that backs of a foot path and is perfect for a bit of sneaky camping.
