So who are Kenya 2020?
Kenya 2020 is a UK-based charity that
supports sustainable development projects in the Alara area of Western Kenya.
The projects are run in Kenya by the Centre for Education and Participatory
Rural Development (CEPARD) a registered Community-Based Organisation
(CBO). The lead role in all projects is taken in Kenya by CEPARD. It is
essential that development problems in Kenya are identified by Kenyans,
solutions are planned by Kenyans and carried out by Kenyans. Kenya 2020's role
is to provide financial support, encouragement and guidance wherever it is
appropriate. You can read
CEPARD’s blog to find out more about their day-to-day
activities. More information on Kenya 2020 and Alara can be found using the
link to the Kenya 2020 website (in the side bar >>>>>>>>> over there).
Why support Kenya 2020?
After visiting Kenya in 2011 with
Kenya 2020 Charlotte was touched by the kind generous nature of the people of
Alara and was inspired by there enthusiasm and zest for life. The
work being carried out in Alara by Kenya 2020 and CEPARD is invaluable to the
community and has already changed the lives of so many Kenyans. They are
working on building a sustainable futures in partnership with the local
community creating an inspirational learning environment and encouraging
efficient farming techniques.
